Construction of ICT Building Modification
Project Scope & Deliverables
This project involved the modification and fit-out of an ICT building at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) in Kampala, creating a modern technology-enabled academic facility equipped with advanced voice and data infrastructure to support ICT teaching, learning, and administration.
Site Preparation: Site survey and setting out, protection of adjacent occupied buildings and sensitive ICT equipment, and erection of dust barriers and safety hoarding.
Sub-structural and Super-structural Construction: Civil and structural works required for any new extensions or structural modifications to the existing building, including foundation construction, reinforced concrete columns and beams, and masonry infill walling.
Roofing: Construction or modification of the roof structure and covering to weather-proof the modified building, with incorporation of any required roof penetrations for mechanical and electrical services.
Voice and Data Installation: Comprehensive structured cabling installation throughout the ICT facility, including Category 6 data cabling, fibre optic backbone cabling, patch panels and cabinets, network switches, data outlets at all workstations, server room infrastructure (racks, power distribution units, UPS), VOIP telephony system, and Wi-Fi access point installations to provide full wireless coverage. The installation was designed to support MUBS's campus network connectivity requirements and provide high-bandwidth ICT services to students and staff.
