Project Scope & Deliverables

This project involved the renovation and rehabilitation of the Faculty of Special Needs Education buildings at Kyambogo University, improving the physical environment for students with disabilities and faculty staff.

Site Mobilisation: Setting up of construction facilities, protection of faculty equipment and resources, and coordination with university administration to ensure minimal disruption to academic activities during construction.

Electrical Works: Replacement and upgrading of outdated electrical wiring, installation of new distribution boards, provision of additional power outlets, and installation of energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the faculty buildings.

Plastering and Painting: Repair of defective plasterwork on walls and ceilings, application of new skim coat where required, and repainting of all interior and exterior surfaces with appropriate primer and finish coats.

Roofing Works: Repair and partial replacement of the roof covering, including replacement of broken or corroded roof sheets, re-fixing of loose sheets, replacing deteriorated flashings and gutters, and ensuring the roof is fully weathertight.

Door and Window Replacement: Removal of old, damaged timber doors and windows and installation of new aluminium-framed doors with appropriate accessibility hardware and windows with safety glazing, improving security and natural ventilation.

Mechanical and Electrical Installations: Installation of additional electrical services, repair of plumbing fixtures and fittings in washrooms, upgrade of sanitary facilities to improve accessibility for persons with disabilities, and installation of any specialist assistive technology infrastructure.
