Consultancy Services to Conduct Investment Appraisal and Project Structuring – Zombo Tea Factory (Nebbi),
Project Scope & Deliverables
Under a framework arrangement with Uganda Development Corporation (UDC), this first assignment involved the conduct of a detailed Investment Appraisal and Project Structuring exercise for the Zombo Tea Factory located in Nebbi District.
The consultancy team undertook a comprehensive situational analysis of the tea factory, assessing its current operational status, production capacity, machinery condition, workforce, and market linkages. A review of historical financial performance was conducted using audited accounts and management records.
A thorough market analysis was performed covering both domestic and export markets for tea, assessing demand trends, pricing dynamics, competitive landscape, and market opportunities available to the Zombo facility.
Investment appraisal involved developing detailed financial models projecting revenues, operating costs, capital expenditure requirements, and financing structures. Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and payback period analyses were computed to assess financial viability.
Project structuring options were developed and evaluated, including Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models, privatization options, strategic investor partnerships, and government equity participation alternatives. Risk assessment and mitigation strategies were documented. A final appraisal report with investment recommendations was submitted to UDC.
