Project Scope & Deliverables

This project involved the design, supply, and installation of an extended fire detection and alarm system for Mantrac Uganda Limited's premises, upgrading and expanding the existing fire safety infrastructure to cover additional areas and improve overall fire protection performance.

New Fire Alarm Panel Installation: Procurement and installation of a new Ziton-type addressable fire alarm control panel capable of monitoring and controlling all fire detection and alarm devices across the extended system. The panel provides zone-by-zone fault and alarm indication and is compliant with relevant fire safety standards.

Fire Alarm and Data Cable Laying: Installation of fire-rated alarm cables throughout the facility, routed through appropriate conduits and cable management systems. Cat6 cables were also laid for integration of the fire alarm system with the building's network infrastructure for remote monitoring capabilities, including both internal and outdoor cable runs.

Sounder Installations: Supply and installation of electronic sounders and sounder-beacon combinations at strategic locations throughout the building to ensure audible alarm signals are clearly heard in all occupied areas, meeting minimum sound pressure level requirements.

Beam Detector Installations: Installation of projected beam smoke detectors in large open-span areas such as warehouses or atriums where conventional spot detectors would be impractical. These devices provide reliable smoke detection across wide areas using an infrared light beam projected between a transmitter and reflector.

Smoke Detector Installations: Supply and installation of addressable optical smoke detectors at appropriate spacing across office areas, corridors, and other enclosed spaces to provide early warning of smouldering fires.

Heat Detector Installations: Installation of fixed-temperature and rate-of-rise heat detectors in areas such as kitchens, plant rooms, and other locations where smoke detectors would be prone to false alarms, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all zones.

Manual Call Point Installations: Supply and installation of break-glass manual call points at all exit routes, stairwells, and key locations throughout the facility, enabling occupants to manually trigger the fire alarm in the event of a fire emergency.
